Patrol

Patrol is the backbone of the police department. Patrol officers are first to respond to your request for help both emergency ("911") and non-emergency calls (301-352-1200), to report non-urgent incidents that require the dispatch of police, fire, EMS or sheriff personnel for service.

After completing entrance level training, new officers are assigned to the Patrol Division for further training and released to single officer patrol.  Lieutenant Mark Butler, the Patrol Division is responsible for the proactive enforcement of Maryland laws and the reporting of crimes. Their duties include, but are not limited to, traffic and drug enforcement, criminal investigations of minor crimes, the initial investigation of major crimes such as robbery, rape, homicide and other felonies.

Under the Command of Captain William Everts, the Operations Commander of the New Carrollton City Police Department is currently comprised of 17 sworn police officers which provide the daily law enforcement functions to the residents of the City of New Carrollton.
